The Merchant of Venice William Shakespeare lesson that explores the next scene of the play (Act 3 Scene 1), as we analyse character, plot and theme, looking at Shylock’s famous speech (“if you prick us…”), how Shylock attempts to gain sympathy or reason his desire for revenge on Antonio, and how he uses language to convince the other characters and the audience.
