I Shall Return Claude McKay
Shall Return Claude McKay lesson that is part of the new Eduqas poetry anthology for 2025 onwards. We explore the key themes and messages of the poem, analysing how the speaker describes a longing for their home and the images that remind them of their past and their childhood.
Students explore and make notes on the use of imagery within the poem and how the use of these images helps the writer and speaker to convey their messages and the key themes of the piece.
We also make comparisons between the structure of this poem and Sonnet 29 by Elizabeth Barrett Browning.
