Short Story Structure
Creative writing and short story lesson for AQA English Language Paper 1. Students explore Desiree’s Baby by Kate Chopin, a narrative that focuses on racism and discrimination in the antebellum period of Louisiana’s history. We look at the structure of the text and the use of a plot twist, and explore how structure can be divided up using exposition, rising action, climax, falling action and resolution, as well as the impact of plot twists.
Useful preparation for both Section A and Question 5 of GCSE English Language exams, but designed for KS3 students. Includes teacher and student notes.
