The Merchant of Venice Act 4 Scene 1
The Merchant of Venice William Shakespeare lesson that explores the next scenes of the play (Act 4 Scene 1 - first half), as we analyse character, plot and themes, looking at the beginning of Antonio’s court case, how Shylock argues his case for getting his bond (the pound of flesh), the other characters’ reactions and the arrival of Nerissa as Balthazar.
In the next lesson, we will explore the impact Portia has when she arrives at the court disguised as a lawyer.
A very useful way to begin the play for both KS3 and KS4 students preparing GCSE English Literature. Fully differentiated throughout.
