World Cup 2026 English creative writing planning lesson that explores different openings and endings to stories, so that students can write draft openings and endings to their own story extracts. We also plan out basic five point plans to our stories, with lots of modelling and scaffolding for support. This lesson forms part of a unit of work on writing stories and narratives with a football theme, whilst looking at creative writing. Students explore narrative hooks, and examples of endings before writing their own beginnings and endings for a soccer-themed story. A useful lesson for both KS3 and GCSE English Literature and English Language students. Includes differentiated activities, source materials, engaging tasks and extensive student and teacher notes. Available as part of a World Cup 2026 Creative Writing Pack:
