World Cup 2026 English football themed writing lesson for AQA English Language Paper 1 Q5/creative writing/Section B/narrative writing, but easily adaptable for other exam boards and specifications. It explores developing a short description of character in order to build tone and atmosphere and understanding of character.
We look at an exam task about a football game and use this stimulus to aid students in creating their own short descriptions of characters from their story.
We explore how we can use adjectives, metaphors, similes, personification and adverbs to improve our character descriptions and then peer assess our character descriptions.
