AQA English Language Paper 2 Section B/Q5 lesson for the 2026 questions that explores non-fiction writing through vocabulary and tone and how changing these can influence a reader or audience. Students think about how changing registers or styles can help to affect an audience, too.
We analyse a speech about arguing for or against public transport to a local council and how the writer/speaker has used their vocabulary and tone to sound professional, convincing and knowledgeable, meeting the purpose and audience in the process.
Students then write out the opening paragraphs of their speeches in response to the exam task provided.
