Christmas English Poetry lesson that explores ideas about homelessness during the festive period and focuses in on the structure and form on a poem. Ideally suited for KS3 classes and adaptable for KS4 classes. Building on the previous lesson that explores the use of language in a Christmas/festive-themed poem, students learn about the experiences of Christmas shoppers and make reflections on how Christmas time can feel very different for people who are homeless in December and during Winter. Students then explore and analyse a poem about homelessness at Christmas time, looking at how the writer employs structure and structural devices such as volta, contrast, stanzas, juxtaposition and more to convey thoughts and feelings about consumerism, empathy, callousness and a Christmas spirit. Perfect for both KS3 and KS4 classes at the end of year, and also fully adaptable for any of the GCSE English Literature exam boards (such as AQA, Edexcel, Eduqas, WJEC, OCR and IGCSE). It can be used for unseen poetry lessons or to in a festive-themed unit on poetry or fiction reading and analysis. **Have a query or question get in touch at info@englishgcse.co.uk **
