Halloween Poetry English
FREE Halloween Poetry lesson for English teachers and students. Students explore the history and traditions behind Halloween before going on to analyse a Halloween-themed poem about trick or treating.
Students explore the use of imagery before focusing on how specific language devices convey the thoughts and feelings of the writer to us as readers.
We explore how personification, metaphors, onomatopoeia, alliteration and sibilance are all used to get across meaning and ideas to readers in the poem.
A fantastic lesson to engage KS3 students with poetry and poems around the October celebration and a good way to segue into writing poetry using the techniques mentioned, but also for improving their language and Literature analysis as they move on to GCSE and KS4.
