Halloween Poetry English Structure
Halloween Poetry lesson for English teachers and students that focuses on structure. Students explore analyse a Halloween-themed poem about trick or treating, focusing on structure, meter, rhyme, trochees and iambs.
Students explore how a consistent rhythm and meter helps to build up a tone that conveys the thoughts and feelings of the writer about Halloween, before focusing how we can make links between structure and language and how writers use these to get their messages and emotions across to the readers.
A fantastic lesson to engage KS3 students with poetry and poems around the October celebration and a good way to segue into writing poetry using the techniques mentioned, but also for improving their language and Literature analysis as they move on to GCSE and KS4.
