In this non-fiction writing lesson, students use their research homework to plan and write out the beginning and ending of their opinion piece on the question: who is the greatest sportsman/sportswoman/sportsperson of all time?
Having previously written out short headlines and straplines for their own articles on their favourite sports stars in the previous lesson, students now explore models of opening and closing sentences for non-fiction articles and use these to write out their own beginnings and endings.
This exciting resource for KS3 and KS4 students could be used for an after school or lunch time club, with students exploring non-fiction writing and combining their love of sports with English learning.
Throughout the club sessions, we will be covering opinion pieces, reports, match reports, preview articles, interviews and more.
